If you are planning to send money to anyone within the US, Wells Fargo may seem like a good idea as it offers online options. Just like sending a check, Wells Fargo Zelle allows you to transfer money to someone using their email address or phone number.
Depending on your recipient’s bank, they can receive the money in minutes. In addition, there are currently no transaction fees applicable to customers making Wells Fargo Zelle transfers. This is much easier and cheaper than the traditional money transfer route².

If you’d rather send money anyway, there are just a few steps to get started.
- Log in to Wells Fargo Online first
- Select the Transfer & Pay option and sign up for bank transfers online to initiate a bank transfer.
- Choose your recipient, your savings account and the amount (along with additional information required for certain countries).
- Review and submit your payment.
After you have filled in all your personal and bank details, you will also need the details of the recipient of the transfer to process the transfer.
This includes the recipient’s name, BAN (payee account number), full address and bank details. There is also a section for intermediate bank details that can be filled in.
Wells Fargo International Money Transfer
To send money abroad, you’ll also need instructions for international transfers:
- Name of the bank
- SWIFT / BIC code: You can check the correct BIC / SWIFT code here
- Transit number for routing
- Bank address, city and state
- beneficiary account number
- Name of the payee
- International Route Code (IRC) for certain countries, i.e. (classification code, IFSC code, national identification, etc.)
- Reason for payment for certain countries

It can take 1-3 business days to fully process a wire transfer at Wells Fargo. Sending money to another Wells Fargo customer can take up to 24 hours. All other non-Wells Fargo transfers may take 2-3 business days.
