Direct deposit is a free service that automatically deposits recurring earnings into any Wells Fargo check, savings card, or prepaid card you choose. Income you receive from your employer, Social Security, retirement and retirement plans, the armed forces, VA benefits, and annuity or dividend payments may qualify for direct deposit.
It is handy. Free up some time by having your money automatically deposited into your Wells Fargo account.
It’s fast. You can access your money the same day on the day of the deposit.
It’s safe. Never worry about lost, delayed or stolen checks.
Direct deposit customers can also take advantage of our automatic Overdraft Rewind®1 feature. If we receive an electronic direct deposit before 9:00 a.m. local time, the bank will automatically re-evaluate the previous business day’s transactions and may reverse any decisions regarding overdrafts or returns, insufficient funds (NSF), and waivers or refunds of associated fees.
3 easy steps
If your paying company or agency offers direct deposit, follow these three easy steps to set up direct deposit to your Wells Fargo account.
Step 1. Use our pre-filled form
Sign up to set up direct deposit to create your custom direct deposit form. Simply select the account you want your deposits to go to and we will fill out the form with your routing number, account number and account type.
Or you can download a blank Direct Deposit Information Form (PDF) and fill out the information yourself. For checking accounts, a diagram on the form indicates where you can find the necessary information.
If you have questions about direct deposit from a federal agency, find full contact information on the direct deposit information form, or you can visit a Wells Fargo bank branch near you.
Step 2. Print your completed form and provide the information to the company or agency paying you
Your payer may ask you to fill out their own form or provide a voided check to process your request.
Step 3. Check your account
It may take one or two pay or benefit periods for Direct Deposit to take effect. You can sign up for alerts2 that will notify you when direct deposit is available on your account. Just log in to set up alerts.
